Divina now sat at a lunch table with her new friends. Not once has she had time to herself. Dash was always by her side, and if he wasn’t Kwan or Star would be hanging with her. She sat between Dash and Paulina as they chatted about their day so far. Kwan would always make jokes that would have the whole group laugh out loud. Star pushed her tray away from her not wanting to eat anymore she turned to Divina.
“So Divina, Dash is having a party over at his house tonight. Would you like to join us?”
Divina swallowed her milk before answering. “I would like to, but I can’t. I’m still unpacking. I also have homework tonight, unfortunately.”
“Aw, come on sweetheart. You need to have a little fun.” Dash leaned in to Divina’s flushed face.
“U-Um… Oh, okay. I’ll stay for a little bit. Then I’ll have to get home.”
“Great!” The group exclaimed together.
“You’ll have fun. Dash’s parties are always awesome.” Kwan added in.
“I’m sure. I don’t mean to change the subject or anything. But, I have to go talk to Mr. Lancer about my enrollment.”
“No worries, we’ll see you soon.” Star smiled.
“Later.” Divina stood from her seat, and took her leave.
Once she was out of ear shot Paulina and Star sighed. “She so needs a makeover. She looks too much like Manson.”
Paulina stuck her tongue out in distaste.
“Now that you mention her I haven’t picked on Fenton, yet.” Dash stood pounding his fist into his other hand.
Dash glanced around the cafeteria only to see Danny leave the room. He seemed to be in a hurry, so Dash decided to follow.
Divina took a look to the paper in her hand, and sighed. “I guess any kind of school building can be confusing.”
“Do you, uh, need some help?”
Divina jumped from the sudden voice. She turned around to see the boy from earlier.
“Um… Yes. I actually am looking for this room.” She showed him the number next to Mr. Lancer’s room.
“Okay Mr. Lancer is this way. I’ll show you.” Danny started to lead Divina down the halls. “By the way, I’m Danny Fenton.”
“Thank you. Hi Danny, I’m Divina. It’s nice to meet you.”
“Same here, I’m surprised you actually got away from Dash. I couldn’t help notice he’s been by your side all day.”
Divina rubbed the back of her neck slowly. “Yea, he’s been helping me out today, however I do appreciate time alone. Just to clear my thoughts and get use to the atmosphere.”
Right after Divina finished her sentence Danny’s eyes widened. He could see his breath, and that wasn’t a good sign. “Hey Fenton haven’t seen you all day! Where’ve you been?”
‘Oh great.’ Danny slumped over a little. “Uh, hey Dash.”
“Hello Dash what are you doing here?” Divina asked oblivious to Danny’s behavior.
“I thought I’d see if you need help looking for Mr. Lancer’s home room.”
“Actually Danny was showing me to his room.”
“You know what that’s a good idea Dash. I just remembered I have to see my sister. She had something important to tell me!” Danny exclaimed.
“I’m sorry Divina, but I have to go. Dash knows the way.” Danny apologized, before running down the hall.
Divina stared confused after Danny. ‘That sure was odd. I wonder if everything is okay.’
“Well then how about I show you to Mr. Lancer’s room?” Dash wrapped an arm around Divina’s shoulders again and pulled her with him Divina reluctantly following after.
Danny on the other hand quickly changed into his ghost form, before flying out of the school. He landed beside his sister, and two friends who were already waiting for him.
“What took you so long Danny?” Jazz narrowed her eyes to her brother.
“I was helping out a fellow student. Now who are we up against this time?”
“Don’t know. He’s a new one.” Sam pointed to the other ghost that now stood before them.
Danny crossed his arms over his chest. “Who are you, and what do you want here?”
“I am in search for someone. So just stay out of my way.”
“Not going to happen. You should just leave now. There is nothing here for you.”
“Perhaps you are right; however I won’t leave until I know for sure.”
“Well maybe we can help you.” Jazz spoke up.
“Maybe you can, and maybe you can’t.”
“Tell us what you’re after, and we’ll help.” Tucker pulled out his PDA, and started poking at it, as it made small beeping sounds.
“I am looking for a family; husband, wife, and daughter. The husband goes by the name of Josiah, the wife goes by the name Mary-Ann, and the daughter goes by the name Gwendolyn.”
“We’ll keep an eye out for them. Why are you after them?”
“My superior has requested that I exterminate the family.”
“What?” The four yelled out.
“We won’t help you kill innocent people.” Danny exclaimed furiously.
“I understand your feelings, however this family has committed a crime, and must be taken care of.”
“Why doesn’t your superior call the police?” Jazz asked the ghost.
“My superior is a gang leader, not a simple citizen.”
“So you aren’t a good ghost, are you?” Tucker asked.
“I am a hitman. I am neither good nor bad.”
“Then it can’t be helped I will defeat you.” Danny flew at the other ghost only to be thrown back.
“Danny!”
“Thank you so much, Mr. Lancer. I’m sorry this caused you so much frustration.” Divina nervously thanked the teacher.
“It’s not a problem my dear. It’s my job to clear up problems such as this one.”
Divina stood up from her chair, and turned to Dash. “Are we ready to go to the next class?”
“Yes, let’s head out.”
“Thank you for your help, Baxter. You are quite the student.”
“Thank you Mr. Lancer. I do my best.” Dash smiled.
Divina rolled her eyes. ‘Just like how a jock acts. He’s got it down good.’
Dash then led Divina out of the room, and headed off to the next classroom. They didn’t make it that far though. Just as they turned the corner the room turned icy cold. Divina could practically see her breath.
“Hey!” Dash exclaimed pulling away from Divina.
Divina glanced up at Dash then to where he was looking at. Her eyes fell upon a boy with ghost white hair. He was dressed in a black jumpsuit with white gloves, and shoes. A ‘D’ was placed upon the front of the jumpsuit.
“It’s Danny Phantom!” Dash exclaimed excitedly.
“Danny Phantom?” Divina asked.
“He’s our ghost hero!”
Divina raised a brow as the ghost boy turned around. ‘He looks familiar.’
“Uh hey guys.”
“It’s been awhile, ghost boy! What have you been up to?”
“Oh beating up bad ghosts. I just ran across a ghost on school grounds, so you should get to somewhere safe.”
“Let’s go Divina things can get a little dangerous.” Dash pulled Divina off the opposite from where they were going.
“Does this happen often?”
“It sure does. And Danny Phantom is always there to save us!”
“So he is like a super hero?”
“Yes, that’s right.”
Before Divina could ask anymore questions she was blasted back away from Dash, and into the lockers. A gasp left her lips, as the pain spread through her body. “That hurt…”
“I found you.” A creepy voice sounded in the hall.
Divina’s eyes widened, as they tried to see where the mysterious voice came from.
“Leave her alone!” She heard the ghost boy yell.
“Why? This is Gwendolyn. She is the one I am looking for.”
Divina panicked. She didn’t go by that name anymore. She stood quickly turning to see Danny Phantom, and a strange looking man.
“Get out of my way, halfa.” The man threw Danny to the side.
He then took the few steps to Divina his fist gripping her shirt lifting her up off her feet. “Your father thought he could escape. But, he did not expect that his superior would hire a ghost to hunt you and your family down.”
“But, my father didn’t do anything wrong! Just leave us alone!” Divina cried out.
“I’ll leave you alone once you and your family are dead.”
The ghost’s other hand raised a green light glowing in the palm of his hand. He went to thrust his hand to Divina’s head, however just before his hand touched the poor girl’s face he barely spotted Danny Phantom’s body come flying over grabbing onto Divina, and going intangible.
“Damn it!”
Danny flew up onto the roof of the school building setting Divina down on the cement carefully. Divina glanced around trying to find her savior, but couldn’t see him.
“Looking for me?”
Divina spun around to see the ghost boy. He sported a grin, however his eyes shown differently. She couldn’t pin point the emotion that swirled in his eyes.
“Thanks for saving me.”
”It’s no problem really. Are you alright?”
”It’s no problem really. Are you alright?”
“Yes I am.”
“That’s good.”
Danny turned around in time to see the ghost hitman come up through the roof. He stood in a fighting position in front of Divina.
“You won’t touch her.” Danny warned him.
“Fine you win this time, however I will return, and things will play out differently.”
Danny was surprised that he gave up so easily. The man disappeared from sight, but Danny knew he didn’t return to the ghost zone. He then turned to look at Divina who rubbed her shoulder uneasily.
“I should get you back to class.” Danny told her, as he took her by the arm gently, and went back to intangible. They went through the roof and down to the floor they were on before. Once there, and Danny let go of her. He flew off without her seeing, and once he knew no one could see he changed back to human Danny. He groaned knowing he’ll have to explain why he wasn’t in class. He came around the corner and up to Divina.
“Um Divina are you alright?” Danny asked causing the girl to jump again.
“Oh Danny it’s you. Yea I am fine.”
“That’s good to know. Say is your next class science?”
“Yes it is. Why?”
“I have that class too. We can walk together.”
“Okay thank you Danny for your help. By the way is everything alright with your sister?”
“Huh? Oh yes. She had something of mine, and was giving me it back.”
“That’s good. You won’t get in trouble for not being in class will you?”
“I’m sure we both will be in trouble.”
“Oh yea that’s true. And I don’t have a good excuse!!” Divina cried.
“Miss Benjamin, Mr. Fenton would you two be able to explain your tardiness from your current classes?” Mr. Lancer asked.
Divina turned around rubbing her shoulder again. “I’m sorry Mr. Lancer. I got lost again, and Danny had a family emergency. I had ran into him, and I asked if he could show me to the science room since we both are attending the same class.”
“I understand.” Mr. Lancer smiled kindly to Divina. “In that case here is a slip for both of you. Let’s not make this into a habit.”
“Yes Mr. Lancer. Thank you.” Divina nodded to the teacher, before taking the slip.
“Let’s go Danny.”
As the two got good distance from Mr. Lancer Danny grinned.
“That was a great excuse.”
“Thanks. I am a genius.” Divina chuckled.
“Thanks for helping out of that situation.”
“No problem you’ve already helped me.”
“Here we are.” Danny stopped in front of a door, before opening it.
“Let’s go.” She smiled to him walking in after him.
